Pharmaniaga Berhad wishes to announce that it has received a letter dated 3 December 2009 from the Public Private Partnership Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, which states the following :
The decision has been made :
(i) That in principle, the period for the concession in relation to the privatisation of the Makmal Ubat dan Stor ("MUS") of The Ministry of Health Malaysia
(“the Privatisation Concession”) to Pharmaniaga Logistics Sdn Bhd [a wholly owned subsidiary of Pharmaniaga Berhad (“Pharmaniaga”)] be continued
for a period of ten (10) years commencing 1st December 2009, subject to the terms and conditions of the privatisation to be negotiated later;
(ii) That Pharmaniaga is given permission to continue the existing Privatisation Concession for an interim period of six (6) months with the existing
privatisation terms and conditions from 1st December 2009, or until a new Privatisation Concession agreement is executed if the Privatisation Concession
in paragraph (i) is not finalised before 30 November 2009; and
(iii) That the Privatisation Committee of the Unit Kerjasama Awam Swasta, Jabatan Perdana Menteri (UKAS, JPM), shall negotiate the new terms and
conditions for the privatisation of MUS with Pharmaniaga and shall propose the outcome of the negotiation to the Government for its further consideration.
A further announcement will be made concerning the Privatisation Concession on conclusion of negotiations and the decision of the Government.
